Walmart Neighborhood Market
Walmart is abandoning its warehouse sized stores in favor of a smaller neighborhood market. The giant retailer announced plans to open its Neighborhood Market Stores nationwide, and plans to open one of its planned stores in Miami.
Scheck Group, along with lead partners Rok Acquisitions and Tate Investments, has landed a long-term lease with Walmart Stores located at the Everglades Lumber site. The deal calls for the first Walmart Neighborhood Market in Miami. The site, located at 6991 S.W. 8th St., was home to Everglades Lumber.
Walmart plans on opening 80 to 100 Neighborhood Market Stores in 2012 alone. The Neighborhood Market Store concept creates a smaller market shopping experience with over 29,000 items shelved in the stores that are quarter the size of their warehouse Super Centers.
